When I went to my LFS and across the tank with the sign says:

What does it say!? Salt or fresh!? and what LFS in mn?

I laughed at the coworkers about pleco cannot survive in freshwater or saltwater...they dont even sell any brackish fish except the spotted puffers which kept in other tank thats 100% freshwater....crazy.

Owner was going out of town needed some extra cash? "This just in, the oh so rare, yet still somewhat affordable brackish pleco. may or may not actually be brackish." And then they bag him up with the goldfish they are selling you.

Some stores keep some plecos acclimated in high ph for people with african cichlid tanks. For some reason, a lot of people call africans "brackish".
