Wrecked Guapote Rescue -- ID Please?

I know, I know, stop with the pity puchases! I've salted the tank I'm holding it in, and (s)he has been eating, so I am pretty confident it will mend up.

At least it's a Parachromis! About 8"... any thoughts on what species?

man that thing took a piss pounding, hopefully it will all work out, salt the ish out of that tank , temp up, double up on water changes and feed prawns and varied diet should all work out.

Ah, thank you guys for the ID. I am really excited that this very well may be a mota -- they don't seem very common in the hobby, and if it's male, looks like I can expect some color once it heals up. I can post some progress pics if you'd like!

looks like a male to me, but in motaguense it's the females that have the color

Wowie, sexy lady. I see that the males can have a bit of color around their pectorals and jaw, at least. This has been very educational for me, I never regret posting on here (well, except for finding out how little I know about these things, but that can be corrected given enough time, lol).

I can't help but look at this fish and see p. friedrichsthalii...l could be mistaken.
