Why would you send him to ac?
I know there are some people on this forum that think if you don't have 'monster' fish they should post on ac since it is part of the same network, but if that was truely the case, we wouldn't have all of the sub-forums for smaller fish. Personally, I don't have monsters anymore, and I have been on other forums that are perhaps more relevant to the fish I keep now, however I like the people here much more, and would much rather stay here. Don't send people away, if you don't want to answer, don't post, it's very simple.

I was only suggesting that they would be of more help as *most* of the monster fish keeper members would have very little expirience with these fish. I would love to help out but ive never thought about "compatability" when buying goldfish. Its like posting a question about lizards in a dog forum...you might get an answer but there are better places to look. Not trying to send people away or step on any toes, just trying to point someone in the right direction.

I disagree with "most of the monster fish keeper members would have very little expirience with these fish´", because we all must have started somewhere and I doubt that that majority of us started with an aro or a ray or something like that. For example: my first fish was a community with livebearers and I still keep livebearers.

Please put this back on topic. The debates do not always end.

How warm is the water? Why did you place them in "warm" water? Is there particular reason for doing this? More often than not, this cuts down their lifespan effectively. Bettas are the exact opposite. If temperature requirement is met, either species suffers anyway.

Bettas are easily outcompeted by goldfish. Sorry, no can do. Keep them separated.

lupin has a good point. We would need to know more specific info to really answer this, but either way, one of the fish will not truely be happy. Goldies are usually best kept without a heater, betas really like warmer water. It could work if you met in the middle or just made on of the fish deal with the temperature of the other fish, but either way, it would be better in the long run if they were in separate set ups.

When i was a wee lass, I did keep a few varieties of golfish with a female betta and did not have any problems, but the goldfish seemed to have gotten most of the food at feeding time. I'd say give it a shot, but watch them carefully for the first while. It may not work, but it's worth a shot :)
