I'm looking for a 48" black light fixture, hood, ballast, whatever you wanna call it. It has to be in okay to good condition or better. I'm also lookin for fine white sand substrate. If you got either or, shoot me a pm. -Jeff

My local Party City store has 48" blacklight fixtures (with two bulbs) for around $20. Party City (in case you don't have one where you live) is a party supply type store. They sell birthday stuff (plates, banners, decorations, etc.) and halloween costumes. I'm thinking you'd better hurry, I don't know if the blacklights will be around after halloween.

doesnt a blacl light hurt the fish's eyes?....i think someone told me that awhile back

can anyone confirm it to be or not...

As for as a white sand substrate, go to a pool supply and ask for white sand for a pool filter. It is quite stunning and cheap. I picked it up for 10 bucks for a 50 lb bag.

My local Pool Supply store sells a 50 pound bag of Pool Filter Sand for $8. It looks pretty good, it's a tad on the pinkish/white side.

Sorry guys i mean, black colored, light fixture. Such as those generic cheapy ones made by all-glass. They come in either "wood" trim or in the black plastic. I'm looking for that black plastic.

And yes blacklights i've heard do hurt fishes eyes. -Jeff
