I am a behavior researcher on lungfishes and currently have 17 in my collection, but am looking for the below:

1. Any unwanted lungfishes. Will adopt. LFS often end up with unwanted ones, so maybe the same is true online.

2. Any SAL - A guy local is supposed to get me some, but if he falls through, I will need a few. Price should be reasonable.

3. An Australian - My purse will only allow for one at the moment, but need one in my collection.

4. An amphibius - Never seen one offered, so don't know what the price range is, but do need one in my collection as well.

Sorry, I can't give up my SALs. They're my favorite, but I'm curious as to what type of research you're doing??? I'm in Durham NH. Are you involved with a university in MA?

How are you?
I am very interested in their antagonistic behavior toward one another and trying to figure out what their natural social behavior is like, in the wild, or under satisfactory captive conditions (Such as a huge pond? That hasn't started yet.) What I'm currently doing is analyzing their growth rates and breathing rates. I also am looking into their moving gravel around. It may sound simple, but I'm still in the early stages. I don't currently work with an University lab, but have in the past, and will again. I also would love to be one of the first, if not the first, to breed an African species. This would depend upon my research on their social behavior - There must be a small window in Africa where they release some hormone, or conditions are just right, that they forget to fight, and become romantically inclined... Time will tell... I read somewhere on here, or on aquaticpredators, that one lady had her annectens lay eggs. I'd love to hear from her and see what her fish did.
As for the breathing... Do all of your fish have individual "breathing times" or do they vary? Mine seem to be pretty consistent. Some breathe often, and others I have yet to see breathe! (Conditions are all pretty much even)

Moderator, we probably need a lungfish forum, outside of the selling section?? Or is there one that I don't know about?

Thanks, Jude
