Haven’t seen or heard of anyone in the northeast with them- but cannot speak to other regions.
Would lo be to get some sm/md cooler tolerant fish for my Unheated 75’s
Ken Davis has set up collecting trips with Aqva Terra, to Uruguay (where Ceibals come from) anyone who has been on one of those trips may have some.
I had them about 10 years ago, acquired from one of those collectors, (but I gave mine away before moving to Panama to people in Wisconsin (Milwaukee Aquarium Society))and I believe some members of the Capital Club (DC area) may still be spawning them, member Matt Quin might be able to point you in the right direction. They breed like convicts.
Very cool little fish, I had a single specimen about 12 years ago. Haven't seen them since then however. If you locate some, please share piceswith us!
I got my wild caught pike cichlids from Ken, and to me, any of the Australoheros would be similar and a s good as getting the ceibals.
Here are the Uruguayan pikes he sent me (way back when)
I don’t think I’ve seen wild ones in forever. It depends on where Ken will be collecting. Matt
Ddogofwar says that each stream and river in Uruguay basically has its own variety of Australoheros.
