What type of water parameters do you need to have in order to keep these....

varys.. most like cool water but it's said there are some whether pure strains or hybrids that can handle tropical temps(SimonL has one at warmer temps). Not sure on PH but I think water temp/airation will be your biggest concerns. I would read up on whatever species you buy before you buy it and/or find out how that particular fish is being kept by the person selling it..

I've kept a few before..

I kept water temp at 70 degrees and very minimal airation throughout the tank..
