the lfs around me dont really know a whole lot about cichlids. most places sell them as "assorted" and call them all africans, except for a few kinds.

agreed... petsmart or petco. Either or, they always have some. I think PetSmart has healthier fish (atleast in my area in the West Side)

it all depends on the individual store, one of my local petsmarts has very healthy fish, another has tons of dead fish
