Are these still available or done with?

good luck... best bet is to YGPM

:(

I got one from David around december. I guess mine was on the last boat out of Brazil. What sucks is that a few years ago Leos were going for as low as 200 bucks!

I hate threads like this it just makes me mad i didn't get into rays sooner when black rays were still available and relativly cheap

I have 2 BEAUTIFUL LEOS AT 14" size from David two years ago or more....It has been too long to remember exactly..... I would only buy from David for rays!
Peace to all my fellow fish lovers!
Dat :)

i wouldnt worry too much, i think the rays will be back eventually. basically what happened was that the brazilian gov. were at a cites meeting in asia last year and asked for rays to be put on the cites lists. they said this was because of overfishing but there is no scientific backing for this (while at the same time killing rays on tourist beaches on the amazon to stop any tourism problems) and not many other countries agreed so they went in a huff and banned all rays from export from brazil(not just the blacks). they are basically doing the same with the zebra plec L46 - the dam will wipe out the population but they wont let anyone remove them first.- doesnt make sense - protect them from overfishing then killing them all with a dam building project. i do know that black rays are being exported illegally as they turned up on a wholesale list in germany last week but this should not be encouraged as it gives the brazilians more excuses. pearl rays have always been banned from export. it is not illegal to import a black or brazilian ray into your country, its only illegal to export them from brazil. hope this adds a bit of info on the situation
