Terrapins can be extremely fragile when they are small, condition the tap water first instead of using it direct on them, the chlorine in tap water can kill them easily.
Food not eaten should be removed instead of leaving them in the tank, so that it doesn't get dirty and smelly very soon.

They need to dry their shells, so don't keep them soaked all the time, create some dryland in the tank where they can bask in the sunlight would be best.
