Last night my bushy nose pleco was perfectly healthy and had a full stomach. Today when I woke up my bushy nose was nothing more than a piece of the tail. It seems like piranhas had eaten every piece of him except for .5" of his tail. The only tankmates are 1.5" datnoids, 2" goldy pleco, and 4" clown loaches. Cant be the datnoids since they can only swallow whole. serious there are no other pieces of him except for the end of his caudal tail with a piece of tail meat attach. BTW the bushy nose is 1.5- 2"
  1. Either my clown loaches killed and ate him.
  2. My goldy killed him and my clown loaches scavage on his carcass
  3. Something happened (maybe his stomach exploded?) and my clown loaches scavage on his carcass.
  4. Should I take out my goldy pleco who is 2", since theres a chance the clown loaches can kill him?

Although I've never seen them do it at 4", my larger clown loaches actively hunted down, killed, and ate minnows I put in the tank for their larger tankmates. It's concievable that your CLs did this damage.

i've seen my 4" clown loaches kill 2" minnows and eat them in chunks. I have no idea why they do it cause they get fed alot.

The culprit is the Datnoid.. Clown loaches do not kill pleco.. i currently keep a 7" Clown with plecos.. and their fine..

Datnoids are known to eat plecos when they get the chance...
Clown loach teeth aren't that sharp to rip through a pleco.... I would suggest keep your Goldie pleco with something else.. another tank for it.. Its too rare of a pleco be lost..
