So im about to leave for vacation and im inspecting my tank to make sure everything is cool in there before i turn it over to someone else for the week and i notice something very odd. In my tank are TONS of these floating small particles of who knows what. At first I thought they may just be air bubbles and I was just paranoid because I was leaving but as I started scraping the sides of the tank they started breaking off into the water. Ive never seen anything like this before and im not sure what to do. The tank is a 55g with two tiny EB Jack Dempseys and I am using a Magnum 350 canister filter which is more then enough filtration. Is this some type of fungus that is growing or whats going on? My fish seem to be in perfect condition as well they are swimming around just fine and eating regularly. I did have to treat the tank for a SMALL case if ich a few weeks ago but other then that all has been good.IMAG0084.jpgIMAG0083.jpg

They may be mosquito or fly eggs like my old tank. They may also ne fungus or maybe your fishes bred.

its algae turn off your lights and get a pleco

Would Fly or Mosquitos hurt my fish if they hatched in there? I thought they needed calm water to hatch there eggs in anyway? the water in my tank isnt that calm....
My lights are almost always off and the tank never gets sunlight.....
fish are way to small to breed arent they there like an inch long

Hard to judge by those pictures but I am going to guess it has been setup less than a month and that is a bacterial bloom. What ever you do PLEASE do not buy a pleco to combat algae :screwy:

Treating for Ick could also possibly cause a spike/bacterial bloom

they are food for the small fish!

its a bacterial bloom.. check your ammonia readings.
do a 50% wc

I actually get this in my ray tank.. My paramaters are 0,0,10-15

I just use a mag float, and then it's gone for a bit.

No big deal.
