WTF Is This?

The fish jumped out. I'm not sure how long it was out of the water but it was still moist. I threw it back in and 5 hrs later a section of the skin or scale looked like this. Can someone ID what this is and how to treat it? I added melafix hoping it will fix whatever this could be.

The pictures not very clear but it looks to me like this might have been the initial impact spot when it fell...if so then your doing everything you can for him/her except possibly for raising the temp a bit.

I second the melafix vote. It works wonders on damaged fish. I had a rock fall and pin a 14" black ghost knife for about 8 hours while I was at work and the sore it had was bad. Melafix took care of the problem fast.

Ok fish is laying upside down. Fish #2 is getting the same thing. Any other idea beside using melafix?

parasite buddies by jungle

Fish #1 was a goner. Fish #2 had the same sympton and the scale layer has been peeled off down to the flesh. Added salt, jungle buddy Parasite, and melaxfix. Should I do water change after day 1 and remedicate? How long should I wait before doing waterchange?
