At my desk
It was just floating in the tank, its alive and wiggling in a cup on my counter. Is it some type of fluke or other parasite? I treated the tank with prazi immediately but I would like to know exactly what it is.

Thanks!

Sorry; to clarify, the bottle cap is for size reference. I am looking for an ID on the worm

Did you put any new plants in? Ive seen those kind of grub/worms in ponds before, i dont think its a parasite.

Jimmy

As a matter of fact, I put some of the hyacinth from the pond in the tank so it doesnt all die off over winter. Any idea what the species name might be?

+1 on the first ID, still looking for positive ID on the worm

Man, i've actually been searching all over the web and cant find it:(. As far as i know it is just some sort of larva so you should be fine, probably even give your fish a good treat lol. If i find anything ill make sure to post.

dragonfly larva possibly?

No, def not dragonfly larvae, I catch them regularly to feed other fish.

I also dont think it came in on the hyacinth either, I just remembered I soaked the hyacinth in a mild bleach solution before I put them in the tank.
