today i noticed my Polleni not being very active, or paying much attention to anything outside of his tank, which is abnormal for him. i decided to do a waterchange to see if he perked up and as i was changing the water i noticed 4-5 little critters crawling around the glass near the top of my tank. they were above the surface of the water, and as the water level went back u0p, they stayed above the surface. they were about 1mm around and had two little antenea. sort of a pinkish color if i had to guess (then again they are under a 18,000k powerglo bulb, so everything is sort of pinkish purple)

anyu idea as to what im dealing with? i tried to browse the stickys to get info, but did not notice anything.

also, what is the likelyhood of any fish diseases being transferred to humans? i just ask because i too have been feeling a bit under the weather recently, just sort of weak and mal-nourished feeling.

if they are what i think they are just turn off your tank lights for a while and do a 50% water change and add some salt to your tank =) i forgot the name of them but i hope this helps your problem

They're probably what most people call 'planaria'. They're harmless but it means you need to watch over-feeding and get busy doing more gavel/sand vacs.
Edit: I'd love to have a Polleni :-)

not planaria, unless they have a metamorphism in which they change from worm like creatures to something that appears to walk around on legs. i really need to figure this out, he is the only fish in this tank, but ever since i set it up i have had issues with it... i have treated it with rid-ich+ when i first saw nematodes in it... now this. and the other day i saw a few planaria.

this is just totally un-acceptable. all my other tanks are immaculate and this is really almost embarassing.

Could it be some sort of parasite that's coming from him? Some sort of fluke or something? I always put new fish through 2 treatments with General Cure, Parasite Clear or PraziPro (same basic meds in all). Have you had him long?
Here's some links to parasites, see if any of them sound like what you've got.

http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/disease/parasites.php (scroll to the bottom to 'related links' on this one).
SkepticalAquarist.com is also an excellent site for fish info but the links don't seem to be working there right now. If we can keep this bumped to the top maybe someone who knows will see it and can comment.

I know what you talking about and those are not harmful. I had them for a while but they just suddenly disappeared one day. Something else is wrong with your fish.
