Do you have any live plants? Damselflys usually lay their eggs on plant stalks just below the water's surface. Otherwise, you had a female damselfly in your fishroom and your fish enjoyed the hatching larvae except those that survived the feeding frenzy by getting sucked into your filter. I didn't have to be a recent event. While it only takes a week for damselfly eggs to hatch, they remain in the larval (nymph) stage for around 10 months before forming into a pupa for their metamorphosis into flying adults.
