i think i would treat the symptoms asap with some type of ph up product that will raise the ph and add buffering at 7.0
it may have been the gravel stirring that has upset it and is placing a large load on the bio filter....
if thats the case keep the water changes going and see if it straightens out
if you add chemicals to the sump ( coral etc bag it so its easy to remove)
