I'm not really sure how many people are interested in this, but I'll share anyway.
When I'm not cleaning up fish and reptile poo I volunteer at a WWII museum near my house. There they let me play with real MONSTERS! Then plane I spend most of my time on is a mk.14 Spitfire. It flew for the first time last August after a 7 year restoration, then the brakes went out.
So here it is, after fixing the issues with the pneumatic system, flying last saturday. I was in the chase plane (a two seater P-51) taking photos.
Buzzing the museum. You can see the main hangers and the wing of the P-51.
My view out the backseat.
The aftermath
They sell rides in the P-51 for $1100 for a half hour. I'm not kidding, and it's one of the cheapest in the country. They've also got a T-6 and a PT-19 you can buy rides in (for significantly cheaper).
I get rides for free, all I do is donate two years worth of my Saturdays, blood, sweat, and tears. But it's totally worth it!
Me gettin in for my ride, the P-51 is Man O' War if anyone's familiar with the plane.
I hope everyone enjoyed the photos (even if they have nothing fish related in them), and if you're in the LA area come down to the museum on a Saturday to see the planes in person!
