So. Cal
I'm not really sure how many people are interested in this, but I'll share anyway.

When I'm not cleaning up fish and reptile poo I volunteer at a WWII museum near my house. There they let me play with real MONSTERS! Then plane I spend most of my time on is a mk.14 Spitfire. It flew for the first time last August after a 7 year restoration, then the brakes went out.

So here it is, after fixing the issues with the pneumatic system, flying last saturday. I was in the chase plane (a two seater P-51) taking photos.

Buzzing the museum. You can see the main hangers and the wing of the P-51.

My view out the backseat. :D

They sell rides in the P-51 for $1100 for a half hour. I'm not kidding, and it's one of the cheapest in the country. They've also got a T-6 and a PT-19 you can buy rides in (for significantly cheaper).

I get rides for free, all I do is donate two years worth of my Saturdays, blood, sweat, and tears. But it's totally worth it!

Me gettin in for my ride, the P-51 is Man O' War if anyone's familiar with the plane.

I hope everyone enjoyed the photos (even if they have nothing fish related in them), and if you're in the LA area come down to the museum on a Saturday to see the planes in person!

Awesome, thanks for sharing Jessica! Lucky! My fav WWII warbird is the Corsair followed by the AT6 (the sound is second to none)..

SECTION 3 - Reno air races FTW!!!!

Nice, i always preferd the hawker hurricane though. The Hurricane was the main victor of the Battle of Britain. Most of the ace pilots at the time were using them and ive read many accounts pilots refusing to make the change to the newer unknown plane, the spitfire.

I was born and raised in London, grew up with all the war stories and hearing allot about the spitfires and it was only when i got older i started to learn more and have been lucky enough to talk to allot of vets, soldiers and pilots and the pilots told me of their trust in the hurricane, how many times it had saved their lives.

The spitfire was a great plane though and is the plane most people remember.

My fave warbirds- Hurrican ,Mustang, Corsair, Ki-43 Hayabusa, Mitsubishi A6M Zero , MiG-3.

Thanks for shareing.
cheers-

Darren

Very cool! I love WW2 aircraft. I use to go to airshows all the time as a kid. My favorite is definitely the P-51 Mustang followed by the P-38 Lightning. There's a place about an hour or so from me that specializes in restoring WW2 aircraft. The last time I was there they were fixing up an old P-61 Black Widow.

And a little known fact (even though I'm sure a Mustang fan like you knew this already), the Ford Mustang was actually named after the P-51 Mustang. But the Ford CEOs didn't want a picture of a plane on the car so they used the horse instead.

I suppose you are familiar with Jack Roush who rebuilds Mustangs and a Mustang

I like late war and post war props like the bubble top spits,P51,P47, Sea Fury, Wyvern, A1 and Bearcat.
