When you see a simple number indicating that a retailer or an individual product has bad reviews, I think it pays to actually go in and read some of the negatives. If there are, for example, 97 five-star reviews and 3 one-stars...read the one-stars. It is often abundantly clear that many of those are posted by people who simply cannot be satisfied...or are too dumb to figure out how to open the box and get the widget out...or dropped it out the window of their truck while hurtling down the highway and are now upset because it's broken. Read between the lines.
A single good review from a trusted source you "know"...such as the one above from

...is worth a dozen snivelling complaints from whiny children.
