My wyckii has gone from being reclusive to quite personable the last couple of weeks. I was moving some rocks in his tank the other day and he attacked my grabber I was using. He actually startled me a bit. I have him housed in a 75 gallon alone. I really enjoy this cat. Will he continue to be territorial as he gets larger? He is approximately 12". I appreciate any and all responses.

Is yours black (mystus) or browm (chaca)???? If you have a Mystus Wyckii (Black Devil Cat) you are gonna have your hands full! They are the fish equiv of Hannibal Lector

I have the black DEVIL CAT. Do you have any other information you'd like to share? I've always admired these cats. I purchased him immediately when I finally came across one. Of course he was a little guy back then. About 5" or so. Tell me all you know. TIA.

It's only going to get worse....much worse. I've had friends buy them small. A few months later, I get horror stories of how they each filter tubes, gnaw on heaters, knock over decor, you name it. IMO, one of the coolest fish you can get. But that's just me.

This cat is definately one of my all time favorite fish. He is a keeper. I came home from work tonight and he had torn the heater loose. Love this cat.

I agree, they are one of the coolest fish around. Their colorations AWESOME too... gotta love that pure black. :D

Damn, a Black Devil Cat!!!!!!!!! I am jealous. I don't have tank space for one right now, but it's definately on the list. You have to keep him alone, and you need to run a wet/dry sump type setup with all filters and heaters contained therein. Let me see if I can find a link for you. You have a bada$$ SOB in the making there!!!!

Wyckii IMO are one of the most aggressive fresh water fish on the planet. I am killing for one right now but I lack the necessary tank space.

Thanx for the replies all. He will now come to the front when I touch his tank. Not attacking, but definately checking me out. Does anyone else have any stories to share?
