Hey gang a little x-mas update and I need a wound id'd. I suspect my rays have mated but I just want to make 10000000% sure this is a ray love bite and not one of the other fish. She is acting more than completly normal and eating like a pig so I am not really concerned about the wound other than what caused it :). I also snapped a pic of how spikey he is to see if that might be the cause but I am pretty sure it is a bite.

Every one have a great holiday and thanks for looking.

Bites are normally on the disc and back fins. That appears to be something else.

There are other bites around the edges the spot it was in is also what made me question this one. If you click on the picture it looks a lot like other bites I have seen as far as the rows of scrapes etc.. Thanks for your help It had me kind of worried all day but she is acting way to frisky for me to worry any more than just keeping an eye on it. I am really hoping it was not my bass because he will be in a new home asap

The damage on the disc above the wound appears to be bites from the male. Most wounds heal quickly and are not a big concern. Just keep your eye on it.

Just let them keep doin the tango... She might get beat up pretty bad but she will heal. Seperate if she stops eating or u see blood

Chances are he didnt get her yet since hes a rookie. Prob wont be long though

thanks guys, I will continue to watch the stupid bass too. He has never nipped at the rays but he got my friends hand last Saturday at my birthday party LOL My buddy "thought he would have time to pull his finger" out of the tank. The bass drew blood and everything. Maybe I can get a csi kit and compare the bite marks on the ray to my buddies finger

If only I would have had the web cam on

Bites under the disc are common John when the male is trying to flip the female...it will heal in a couple of days or so.
All the best to you also.

Thanks, I think the reason the damage might be so mild everywhere else is because she is almost half his size. I can't imagine her putting up too much of a fight if he got a hold of her

I was telling Trev through PM that she also had some slight irritation around her "hole" for lack of a better term. So I think he may have gotten her

Appreciate all the advise guys I am super stoked that they are happy enough to be trying :)
