... a lot of people just celebrate it as a tradition now, that have been added to the day... the food, the family get together, the drinks, the father christmas stuff, the gifts and the general merriment the day brings. On countries with a foundation of christianity, and a lot of people not turning to religion anymore, I think a lot of people celebrate the day out of tradition as opposed to them being christian, which is why the commercial aspect of it has boomed I guess. There's a large amount of people that have been christened as children and are not particularly religious anymore, or people that don't really take a religion on board, but their family members before them celebrated so they do.
