Hey Guys,

I have a question for those that have experience with XB. Are the golden rings on the rim of the scales going to get bigger until the aro is fully metalic gold or is it going to stay thin on the rims like in the photo? at the moment the scales are all gold lined only.

At the moment the gold has fully crossed on top middle scales but not yet everywhere all over the aro's back. got nice pearlies and all that but not fully golden scales as i imagined. The gill plates are golden. Will scales ever be metalic gold all over or are there other XB variants (besides BB) that don't get all out golden scales.

The inside of the scales have sort of greenish tinge but it varies depending on the light.

Does shrimp shell diet helps XB like for SR?

I recon the aro is about year by now (i got him in DEC 08). Initially he was really fickle eater but not now (thus he has been growing more steadily of late i think)

Your input is greatly appreciated.

PS: any pictures of growing aros (before and after) would be really nice ^^

From picture, it look like a thin frame xb with blue base. The aro is developing droop eye as well.

How well the colour of the fish depend on entirely on the gene of the fish. And of course, if the fish tank is of a dark colour background, it will help bringing out the most of the colour tone of the fish. But end of the day, gene very important. No matter what you feed it wont really help much.

If you believe that by feeding red with market prawn and it will turn red then there wont be non red looking reds in the world.;)

Thanks for the info, Koji. I suspected that this may be another BB. On the bright side, i get to look for another one - on the downside i already have another one.

fortunately, i don't think it is onset of DE. the fish is at angle looking down.

dark aquarim - darn. forgot to stick film on the outdoor aquarium before installation. it is completely clear ... oh well.

Phew ... no need prawns ... expensive here
