Also known as the common freshwater needlefish, or the false gar..

I rescued one and put it in a my largest tank (96x30) and didn't offer him live food for a few weeks.. Got hungry enough and starting eating krill. It now gorges itself on pellets.

I was under the impression that these fish would only eat live food..

Has anyone else had success with this?

That's impressive Miles. I know they will eat frozen krill, but I have never heard of them eating pellets.

I have the needlefish, snooks, ctenopoma, severums, geos, bichirs, and a BGK all in the big tank.. everyone eats pellets.. :)

Fish on pellets is always a success! Good work.

i got my silver perch, coal grunter and yellow fin bream on pellets

yep i've been able to get mine onto frozen food still not much luck with pellets they try to eat them but just don't seem to wan't to swallow them

nice job, mine wouldn't eat anything besides feeders....then in an ironic twist, my oscar ate him.
