Hey guys. I was wondering if anybody could suggest some tank mates for my xenetodon cancila. I've been doing some research and I'm obviously not gonna throw in any cichlids or anythings overtly aggressive since my needlenose "gar" will probably end up straight trippin and breaking his back...
I have a 30 gallon grow-out tank with lots of fake plants and other stuff to hide in. Also in there is a small crab [don't know what kind] and a snail. I just got my water tested at a local fish store and they told me everything looked great but I forgot to ask them what my ph or hardness was at...
I was thinking of throwing a polypterus senegalus in there since it sounds like they are moderately peaceful and the gar is probably too long for him to eat... I hope? What do you guys think?
My needle nose isn't like super skittish, well maybe... Last night he almost ate a small piece of raw beef off my finger; I sat there for like 10 minutes with my hand in the water and his jaw was quivering the way it does when he eats his food, or maybe he was just thinking about biting me.
The "gar" is about 5.5 inches long maybe, and the poly senegalus I'm looking at I'm assuming is typical store size like 4 inches or something.
I don't plan on adding anymore fish except for feeder guppies. What if I put a divider in the tank for a while and then removed it later? Is this gonna be savage or is this a disaster waiting to happen? I feel like it should be chill, you guys tell me what you think.
