xingu 1 hexamita

i have a 4 inch xingu 1 and it is developing hexamita (hlle), what should i do to stop it?

i've never dealt with it but ive heard that water changes help

Metronidazole can be crused and added to the tank or if your pike takes store bought prawns it can be mixed into food and fed to the fish

Meantime make sure you keep the water good

I think if this is in the early stages you might want to check out the aquarium for some medication which you can use first before trying anything else

Lower ph with Black water extract. Feed a very high quality food. (Ken Davis at fish farm sells one the pikes love. Cichlid sticks?) Do lots of water changes( not less than 50% per week. At that size it can clear up. Start today

Forget using meds, they will just compound the problem. HITH in pikes is water quality, not hex, change lots of water, keep the pH low and feed a good diet and it'll clear up. Ken

i agree with ken. most of the time hith is not from heximita but just poor water quality.

cleaned the water (and i will do 25% changes every 3-4 days) and i'll feed it more shrimp because it does like those, he's is the only fish in the tank that has it.
