I wanted to do a little xingu 3 thread. They are very cool and unusual pikes, and I was wondering if any of our merry band keeps or has kept them? Here are some web shots of some beuties.

Neither to both questions but I would definitely pick up a few if given the oportunity.
I dig the all black, it makes the red abdomen and the white dorsal stripe really explode,
Especially in your 1st and 3rd photos.

Isn't that second photo a Xingu I? Look at the head.

I was thinking the same thing... not so much the similar heads (Xingu I, II, III are similar) - Xingu III doesn't have a small white stripe on the bottom of the caudal fin, don't know about Xingu II.

Actually, when my females display to the male the head and caudal turn dark grey. Here is two pics. One normal, the other shortly after displaying(changes fairly quickly). She gets darker then this. This is the exact same fish minutes apart.

I'm my humble opinion, X1 have a pointier snout then X3.

The knockout blow on pic no. 2: the eyes. Xingu 3's have very characteristic golden-crescent and not red eyes. Kutty mentions this on his sight and it is very prominenet in pics 1 and 3. Pic two clearly lacks any crescent and the color is red. Must be a xingu 1...or could it be a xingu 2? CH-that is a very interesting thing about xingu 1s, I'd never known they darken like that-thanks for the photos.
