can somebody post a pic of adult xingu I's? I love my yellow guy, I just want to see what I have to look forward to. I know the males and females are different.
Aye, they are QUITE different...males are olive drab to greyish orange, and females are kinda tannish with a red/pink belly...rather sexy if you ask me. Last time I used the term sexy to describe a fish though I got in trouble..haha..but i think they are SEXY!! I'll get cha some pictures...
Found them on the net...my pair was weird...the female had black ends instead of tan like that, which is why i think my pair was actually xingu III, they also had different color changes than xingu I, another reason why i think they were xingu III. BUT all that aside, the only real way to ID a pike is by its scientific name, which is recognized world wide. Common names aren't really used that commonly for pikes, so when you do start using them its pretty vague and inaccurate to describe the pike you are gettin. Which is why i don't really like common names cuz they aren't really used for pikes...scientific all the way baby!! And yes, venezuela and xingu I are totally different pikes. xingu I = 'orange' pike.....'black line pike' = venezuelan....'red/rainbow' pike = johanna. Those are just a few vague examples....unfortunetly they aren't limited to that, so it can get confusing.
