Second what size set up would you suggest for a pair of Xingu I and will they breed in an aquarium? I am seriously thinking of getting 6 or so of them in trying to get a pair and breed them. ud need a pretty big tank bro and if u would do that, imo, u would need to get them all at 1" or so. with lots of decor for site breakers so they can run from one another.
Yeah that's what I was thinking also. Do you think a 180 would be enough for 6 small ones until they pair then sell all the rest and keep the pair?
Aqua Scape is a pretty good place,all the fish i ever ordered were healthy and hungry when they arrived,only bad thing is getting a hold of Pedro,i like to order over the phone so catching him is a pain,call late afternoon/early evening,good luck!!
Hey, just trolling through the forums, im also interested in housing Xingu 1's . Is there a way to easily sex them as juvie's or do u kind of have to wait to see their adult coloration's starting to come out. I have had other pike in the past and it's seems hard to decipher when they are young. Any help?
They should school for about the first nine or 10 inches (about when you can start to properly sex them) of their lives together, after that, all bets are off, you will likely have a pair that destroys the rest, but, that will strengthen their bond. I would venture to say that a 180 is a good start, but they won't need that space till they are five or six inches long.
