I'm pretty sure it's a xingu but it could possibly be Tocantins as it resembles one of my Tocantins.

This is it in the tank haven't seen it since.

That is a very seriously beautiful pleco. What color/kind of substrate do u have? My tocantins turned dark when I put them in dark substrate,,im thinking of putting a pfs lighter substrate with black background and see if the golden color will pop out

Thanks

IME they colour up when stressed out. The in tank pic is when I first put it in (about one minute) the tank.
This tank has (white) fine gravel in it. My main tank 224 gallon is bare bottom and they're all darkened a bit but when I try to catch them and they get stressed the colour pops.

White substrate does help bring out the colour. I'm not sure if the background matters I don't use any

I have a young group of 10 that I'm pretty sure are all araguaia but at times I think they might be tapajos of some type.
Soon when I do an upgrade I'll be taking pics of the whole group from 190's to 418's :)

I alway had a thing for royals, they act and swim funny, I would have done the same thing and stay up late too to get a glimpse at it too. When I first got my two they laid in one spot for about 48 hours.

Thanks
