OH
Hello everyone. New to the site, and after admiring pikes for awhile I have kept them for a little while. I am not new to cichlids though.

I have a few questions. (After reading the forum for a few days I think this would be for Peanut Power, no offense to anyone else). I have heard of a yellow morph of the Xingu I species. Is this true or just a myth? If it is true, is the pike below one of them? The pictures show the true color and it is not the orange like every other one I have seen. Or is turning yellow part of the change to adulthood? (It is only about 3.5" at the moment). Thanks in advance for any help.

I found out where i read about the yellow morph. it's on mostly cichlids from Vinny if that helps. I Forgot to ask, if there is a color morph, do the adults end up looking the same anyways?

Don't get me wrong man, I'm honored that you look forward to my advice, but don't forget the other brothers of the site!! ;) MTN Pike, Scat, Shadow, Sicx, and Celtic speak great words of wisdom as well! We are all learning from each other still, so I wouldn't say any of us are above the others. I'm still a 'newbie' myself! :D Learning every day! :D Gotta love Crenicichla though! They are AWESOME FISH! Can't get enough of them!

Anywho, Crenicichla sp. 'xingu I' can come in a variety of colors, from mild yellow to BRIGHT orangish-red. As far as I know they are all the same fish, with the adults looking the same. Just a thought. Gonna go with Mtn saying that its either a myth or just a 'regional' variant of the species. Its possible that certain collection area for xingu I posses brighter colors than others.

Thanks for the answers. If he/she looks like a normal xingu I, I will still be very happy.

Glad to be here. I never noticed there was a crenicichla forum on here or i would have joined a while ago. I look forward to you guys answering my many cren questions.
