Hi all,

I just stumbled on to your forums and was glad to see there was a place I could ask before I drop a bunch of money on a new filter.

About a week ago, I cleaned my filter and it will not siphon water at all. It would run a bit, but every 20 seconds or so, the filter would stop to catch up with itself (or so it seemed) and then work fine again for another 20 seconds before repeating the process. Some times it does this for 2 minutes when I clean it but then it runs fine.

I decided it was broken so I was just going to throw it out but from what I noticed here on the forums, that it could be something simple like a clips or an o ring and if that's the case I'd like to find out.

I'm not really sure where it's leaking from, to my knowledge it wasn't visible but then again maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. Any suggestions on what to check or replace first?

Is there any water coming out? Have you taken it apart and tried again? Have you tried refilling the intake tube from that little cap?

I would remove the impellar and make sure its not jammed up or clogged.

Sorry it's taken me a week to get back, really busy with the holiday.

Anyway, I'm going to try to flush and clean everything everything out again today (as in the moving parts). It's a bad habit I know, not to clean those every time and maybe this time I'll learn.

I have tried taking it apart and putting it back together with a new clip for the tubing (that was my first hunch) but it didn't work.

Any other suggestions besides a total clean out? I read another post that talked about the O ring being busted on some of them possibly?

when you take the lid off the filter, there is a circle piece underneath you can remove. This is where the impellar is housed. Have you taken that off and checked to make sure there isn't anything jammed around the impellar shaft or goobered up?

I just changed everything over and checked the impellar and nothing clogged or out of the ordinary, however it's still dong the same thing where it seems to be siphoning and works fine for a minute but then kicks in to it's "choking" mode again.

I even checked the O-ring to make sure and it looks fine and intact.

I'm a bit stumped honestly.

Alright, I just doubled checked it to see if it was leaking and I can see one of the clips (the ones that hold the top on the canister) dripping. Would this be because of the rubber ring on the outside of the lid between the the lid and the bucket? Is this replaceable?

Try vaseline on the O-ring. It will seal better than just the O-ring and let you know if the O-ring needs replacing.

Make sure to use enough to promote a good seal, and clean it off well once you are done as petroleum based products tend to accelerate the deterioration of rubber over time.
