How do you start an xp3 properly? I have primed it and it just will not start. It makes a loud humming noise. It will start for about 2 seconds then stop and go back to the noise. The lines are fine and there are no leaks anywhere.

is it a loud clicking noise?

I have one and they can be a pain every once in a while. Fill the canister completely so that when you put the tup part on it overflows with water. Just put a towel under it. Then prime it by pouring many cups of water down the prime tube. then plug it in. Should work for you.

This is pretty much what to do. If it still doesn't work after this, try tilting the unit front to back & side to side a couple times to see if air is getting trapped inside the filter. Mine does this upon occasion.

Sounds as if the canister is not quit full enough with water. If it is primed properly and you lift the return completely out of the tank and below the waterine the remaining air will escape. You may want to put the reurn into a bucket though.

Sometimes just rocking the filter back and forth will work so you might try that first.

Thanks for the responses. The intake line was kinking when it would start for a little bit. Thanks again for the help.
