which filter is better? what are the pros and cons of both?
You're going to get a lot of opinions, a lot of eheim fanbois, and approximately zero objective replies.

Between the two, I personally would go XP3. That is an opinion. My reasoning is that the C-360 has had a lot of horror stories associated with leaks.

Had my c530 for 6 months no problems. I can see if you don't know how to work the kinda flimsly barbbed connectors they can be a problem. And I also accidentlly hit the release valve one time right over my power strip but, the flow, and overall space inside the canister is awesome.

I don't know the difference in price though. but I have had HOB 400's for 15 years now. But there days are numbered.

I have 5 xp3's and they all run pretty good only bought one of them new too. Sometimes they can be stubborn to restart after doing a water change not sure what causes that but most of the time I just leave them running during the change anyways.

They're pretty quiet too. I run 3 in my bedroom in open stands and its the ac70's that make the barely noticeable noise.

Don't have any experience with the marinelands so can't vouch for them, but its pretty hard to beat the price of the xp3's most of the time.

xp3 by far I have had 2 c-360 one died and the other does about 50 gallons per hour i have even tried runing them with out any media and same issue in my opinion they are a over priced pos. I have never had an xp3 but I have an xp4 and it works fairly well. so I would go with the xp3.

i have an XP3

Its quiet, easy to do maintenance on, flexible with type of media you choose, and a very basic canister filter, yet proven to be an efficient one.
