Ordered gasket kit for xp3. I want to run this filter without media baskets. Both hoses run it to top of filter because of this would i be better off having coarse filtration at the top or the bottom or does it not matter? Im thinking that if i use no baskets there will be less water bypassing the media. Ir should i use no pads and only coarse and fine ceramics? Just wanna be as efficiant as i can.

If the filter was designed to have media baskets, I recommend you continue to use them.

The Filstar XP3 has the intake and output at the top of the filter lid and the intake directs the water to the bottom of the filter and the water flows upward to the top of the filter through the media baskets and through the output and back to the tank

If you remove the media trays and don't make something to direct the water to the bottom of the filter, all you will be getting is unfiltered water from the top of the filter.

Makes sense. Thanks.
baskets just seem like a waste of space.
