Okay, so this idea I have would be used on/for a 90g tank (what I have waiting to be setup) and two XP3's.

Would it be possible and/or reasonable to run the returns from the two XP3's into a single, custom made, spray bar that would be about 3' long? There would be a return pipe on both sides of the spray bar making it "looped" together running across the back of the tank.

I've drawn up the idea but don't know how to get it here to show you guys...

Hope it's explained well enough to get the gist of it.

Thanks,
Brian

Run the spray bar as one and add 2 shut off valves at either end for maintenance

I was thinking about this a bit more and started wondering what would happen if, say one of the filters accumulated more debris than the other, causing its flowrate and output pressure to drop significantly (vis a vis the other filter). I think this setup may present an opportunity for a pressure accumulation wthin the common spraybar to literally terminate flow from one of the filters...or at least to significantly impede it. The scenario you described seems to depend upon a close balance in output between the two filters. Not so sure this is a good idea after all.
