I think you would be better to go with an xp4. This way when the time comes you can move both the Jardini and the xp4 filter both to a 180 gallon tank.

Agreed. There is no such thing as an over-filteration.

When I was a newcomer in this hobby, I used to run xp3 in a 30g cube that was heavily stocked with three oscars, two dempseys, convict, and a raphael cat. This filteration accopanied by water changes every two days, fish grew like weeds. XP filters are awesome.

i dont know about that i work at a fishstore and all the guys who work in drygoods and bought a xp4 cuz they liked there xp3 said the 4 is crap it clogs solid in a messy predator tank in about a week...just something to think about....my xp3 is great tho!

word on the street is that the xp3 is better bang for buck than the xp4.. and xp3 at 75 bucks is hard to beat. soo.. for a 55g itll work nicely.. and to upgrade on the tank just buy some more xp3s.. buy three of them now.. do a search on the forum youll find the petsmart deal for the 75dollar xp3s.

I just got my XP3 for 75$ you will need the coupon, and online price match of 104.99 the instore price is 179.99 and for the price of an XP4 You should be able to get 2 XP3's and save some $$ but you will prob have to get them seperately.

Also I have mine on a 30 GAL with an Eclipse 3 Filteration, this baby is SOOOO STRONG MAN my tank is CRYSTAL CLEAR and I love it =D going to put this on a 55 when i get one ^^
