Got a Rena Filstar Xp4 a couple months ago started out working fine started moving less and less water over a few weeks until it finally stopped moving water altogether changed media regularly over this time so Im sure it wasnt plugged up. I prime it as directed in the manual, I can hear the motor running but no water moves. For every possible problem the website and manual says "improperly primed" (user error how convienent for them). I have primed it taken it apart cleaned it over and over following the instructions to the letter. Anyone have any ideas? Dont even want to attempt it too many more times if its not going to work as my floor gets covered with water everytime, huge mess!!

Try tilting it back and forth while running. There's a good chance that there is air trapped around the impeller housing causing it not to flow. If you are seeing a gradual decrease, you might have an air leak. I run multiple XP filters and don't have any problems.

I love my Rena's. I have 2 xp2's. One of them is a pain to prime. Make sure your intake tube cap is tight. I've made the mistake of cleaning my filter, filling the intake tube with water and pushing the lever down, plugging it in and nothing. If all else fails call them up.

Forgot to mention. Check to hoses to see if the are pinched. Or they could be to long. I had to trim a set of hoses back because they were looping down and then back up to the filter.

Fixed it little rubber guide at the end of impeller shaft that fits into impeller cover was putting shaft in a bind took it off filter is running like a top

I once spent about 4 hours trying to prime my XP4 after cleaning. I was getting pretty frustrated. I thought...maybe something got sucked up into the hose. I took the hoses, intake and outlet down...and saw that my intake hose was kinked nearly closed. I redid my tubing and haven't had any problems since.

As mudslinger suggested, I would check the hoses!

Edit: Nevermind, I see now you have it fixed :)
