Well my partner and I, not just me, and its more like $0.4 million, which is about $50US.

We've just bought our first house, and one of the big selling points was the brand new 2.5 car garage with a sleepout with its own bathroom. My sister will be renting it for the next 2-3 months until I get a $10/hr payrise when I've finished training for my new job, and then it will be turned into the fish lounge! Not fish room. Planning three large tanks, one for the loaches, probably 6x2x2', and will increase the pack to 50+. One for the predators, aro, bichirs, dats etc, probably 6x2x2' or slightly wider. And the centrepiece will be something around 6-8x3x2' (3' wide of course) South American tank with geophagus, uarus, severums, heckelii, angels, festivum, chocolates, plecos and maybe even some discus. I'm not going to set up one of these horrible cramped little fish rooms where the walls are lined with polystyrene and there's a million little tanks and you only go out there to feed and clean because its standing room only. The three tanks will be across the back wall with a couple of couches facing them and a well-stocked bar fridge so I can spend a few hours a week just chilling and watching the fish.

Its still a little way off, have to get used to mortgage payments first then get some money saved up, but I'll keep y'all posted on progress. 8)

Good luck with your new house.

I loved the US economy joke.:screwy:

You mean the weakness of the NZ Dollar joke? :screwy:

*edit* I'll explain it before anyone else misses the point and gets offended. The NZ dollar has fallen 35% against the US$ in the past 12 months, at its peak $1NZ would buy over $0.80US, now its back down to just over $0.50, so it feels like our dollar is now nearly worthless, hence me saying my $400K mortgage is worth about $50US...

Sorry. That is what happens after a long, stressful day. I was half asleep. Again, congrats on your new home. So, if I send you $50 US, can I move in?:D

Haha fair enough, I hear times are a lot tougher overseas than here. We are experiencing a bit of a downturn, which is good because we can actually afford to buy a house now, where as 18 months ago we would have been looking at $50-80k+ for the same place, but nothing like the US or UK.

And to further things falling nicely into place, a friend has decided to sell his 180g set up with a heap of dats from about 6" to 15"+ and a few other cool fish, so I might just have to buy that instead of a new 180g!! :D
:headbang2

Ooops...

I think that's an awesome idea. That one of the reasons I love the position of the couch here in my room, I can see all my tanks and just watch the fish if I want to.
