Hi guys,

So I came home from work today to find what I think is an egg in my terrapin tank.

I have just brought them in from outside for the winter meaining a water change of 8 degrees to about 20 degrees over a week.

The "egg" is a see through membrane with a dark patch, about 2 cm in size but not white and laid in the water.

Also alarmingley there is only 1?! Unless the rest were eaten?

They are both only around 21/2 - 3years which I did not think was old enough but male is around 8" and female 10".

Is there anything I should do with it? It was stuck to the intake of the external filter and I then moved it to the other end of the tank.

Thanks for any help guys!

what kind of terrapins? most turtles, even aquatic, that i know of lay eggs on land. Is there any land in the tank? could they have possibly burried the rest and this eggjust be one that got left out

we did an experiment in biology one time where we left an egg in a water solution and in a vinegar solution, both eggs swelled up and the membran became soft and see through, could be what happened to your egg.
