Sunday night my Yellow Bullhead looked completely fine but I went to check on him this morning and his stomach has grown to the point where he looks like a Gulper Catfish after a big meal! I've never seen him this fat and I checked for all the fish in the tank and they were all present and still in one piece. Not sure what happened to him, if he ate some gravel or something like that, maybe I'm feeding him too much (he gets ~30 sinking shrimp pellets once a day), or if he has some disease. I worry because at this point his stomach is actually a tiny bit wider than his head is! This is not normal weight for him and I'm not sure what to do. Should o just cut back feeding to smaller amounts of pellets or if it's some disease should I feed him medicated food or what? I'd say he's probably around 9-10" at the moment if that matters. Please let me know what you guys think of this.

No one!? I feel that this is definitely not normal because he's not laying in his PVC pipes as he usually does and instead has his head shoved under a ceramic pot under a small cave with half of his body sticking out the other side in the open. He also refused to eat anything last night.

u missing any other fish lol? if not could just be bloat...lay off feeding for a week and it should subside. i have an irwini that gets like this if i feed to much. good indicator to give em a break to digest.

No, not missing any fish, that was the first thing I checked, lol. I'll skip feeding for 5 or 6 days and see if that works.

Agree.

When he feeds again, I'd soak the food in Epsom salt - good cleaner and parasite killer. Or do short term or long term Epsom salt baths.

It could be parasitic but I'd think the case is simpler - he had overeaten and got clogged up and bloated.

I fast my fish one day a week and once for 2-3 days every month.
