I asked my LFS to get me red bay snooks. I was expecting them to be red, but I am happy with yellow. They are defiantly cool looking. Will they turn red or stay yellow?
I bought a pair from one breeder that were red and another pair from another breeder that stayed pale yellow. I guess it helps to see the breeders before buying. Although, my male yellow displayed red spotting during breeding and nest guarding. But, he went back to yellow the rest of the year.
Agree with Oddball, there are different color morphs splendida, some more pink than others, some more yellow, some a more wild pattern of brown with spots.
The wild type with the red face are cool looking. I might get one of them.
The petshop only had these two in for a day when I bought them and he told me that they didn't eat frozen bloodworms when he tried. Yesterday I added a bunch of live blackworms, an hour later they were all gone. I also had 9 fathead minnows in my tank last night and woke to only 2. I tried frozen and I didn't see them go for it. I also am not seeing them go for the live food, but I assume thats where they are disappearing to. Today I added 30 guppies and a bunch of ghost shrimp. Depending how long these last I might give them 1 more live food serving and then I will work on getting them on frozen and pellets.
Here is a better video of them. If you can't see the video it might still be uploading. I wish I had a smaller tank to put them in for now.
