A LFS I currently work at has one of these. My boss says he's had him for 12 years and that he's extremely rare. Is it true that they are that rare? He's probably one of the most beautiful aquatic beings that i have EVER seen. He wants 800 for him and I'm wondering how large of a tank i would need to give him for an appropriate home. I'll see if i can get some pics next time i work.

yellow headed dragon moray?
that's like a combination of two different fish...

is it this?

either way a 125-1250 would work great

yeah, excise the 'dragon' part from the title.. it's misleading

they aren't the most common eel there is but definitely NOT $800 maybe like $150-200 around here, though my area seems to be more expensive than others

on a side note, you don't heppen to be going to lawrence uni are ya? i loked there in high school and think i might apply next fall

its a yellow headed or fimbriated eel, I have one thats about 14" right now, got him at about 10" for $70. A local store I go to just ordered him off of a shipping list. Not rare, but cool indeed. If you go to wet web media, there is a fenner write up about this species, not a wise pick for home aquaria, they are supposed to be mega vicous, but I keep one with an undulated, a white eye, and 2 puffers, no problems yet.

K thanx for the info. wont even think about it for that much. I've seen the dragon eels for like 2-3k so wasn't sure if this was insanely high or not.
