Hello. I have a yellow lab my husband brought home a couple weeks ago. I've always kept American cichlids. This is my first African. We thought it might be a male because of the egg spots on the anal fin but last night I think she was holding eggs in her mouth. She usually eats like a pig but last night she came out acting like she wanted to eat but her mouth looked full and she was doing a "chewing" motion. Will a lone female lay and hold infertile eggs without a male? I know many American cichlids will lay eggs without a male. She's done this aT least once before.
