I just recently purchased these but they don't like yellow to me. are they blues or do they take a while before they color up?

I'm pretty sure they are a mix. The reason I say this is because they have stripes, a pure yellow lab does not. I have four F0s from Media Luna, Mexico that I've been growing out since they were .75". I did a bit of research before I came across these guys a couple years back. A big issue with this fish from what I recall was that the lagoon where these are found became flooded with cyanoguttatus which began breeding with the labs and the population of real yellows began to diminish. Media Luna became protected by the Mexican Government an collecting there became illegal, hence they became very rare.

Cool fish though!

The females do turn a shade of blue. I've not seen any with stripes. I have 9 F0 adults.
