I have a 5" BGK in a 40G thats gonna stay there for at least another 2-3" and I was wondering if I can put with him a group of yellow labs. I know mbunas are agressive and I'm concerned they'll kill my BGK. Does anyone have an opinion about this combo or experience?
All the fish are tank bred so the water will be tap water which is medium hard, so the water params will not be a problem.

So no one has an idea if the labs would be too agressive for the BGK? I've kept BGK with SA/CA cichlids and everyone pretty much leaves him alone. The advantage of being an oddball I guess, no one sees him as a threat, so I was wondering if the labs would be the same or would they chase him to death?

I'd say its a hit or miss, I had my clown knife in with a single yellow lab and some CA/SA and they didn't bother the clown but then again the clown knife was much bigger

I have never tried this combo, and have actually never kept BGK. Yellow labs are usually one of the more docile species of mbuna - but I would agree with clownknife that it is hit or miss.
