I was at a lfs on oahu the other day looking for a few fish to get rid of aggression in my tanks. they had yellow labs and firemouths in the same tank. i put 5 firemouths in my 30g and 24 hours later my hyper aggresive peacock mellowed out. my question is about my 20gh. I only had 2 juvenile fronts in it (1 inch). I put 4 yellows and 3 firemouths in it and I am wondering how long I need to wait until I separate them. the fronts are happy to have someone else in the tank and have quit fighting with each other. but everyone keeps saying that the firemouths will get aggressive. so far everything is OK. should I just wait until i see aggression or should I get the firemouths out at a certain size. I dont want my fronts to get messed with. the firemouths and the yellows are both about 1 1/2 inches. So far no aggression.

mind you I am 70 miles away from oahu and could use some help. Here in Hawaii we cat get very many fish. what company will ship fish at reasonable rates to Hawaii?

Your tanks are to small for all those fish right now. I think you have a few months of peace but the water quality might get them first. I suggest that you do 20% water changes daily!

If you really want to get rid of aggression you should try to get the right mix of fish. Over stocking a tank will harm your fish as much as aggression will.

Fronts are very peaceful and should be alone in the largest tank you have. A 6 foot tank with a group of 6 or more is what they will need as adults. They are great to have and I'm currently growing them out myself.

I don't know much about firemouth but I know they can get nasty at times. There's a lot of info about them in this forum. So look around.

You should read up some more about the fish you have and decide which ones you really want to keep.

I say buy the largest tank possible and then choose which ones you really want to keep. Good luck and happy fish keeping.
