These are fresh from the LFS.. I've seen a few variations in them since then, will post them below. Let me know if theres anything I should be worrying about.

#1. One of the fish seems to have a white line around his eye, I at least didn't notice this at the LFS, and its only like this on one of my labs.

#2. It seems to be dirty, almost looks like a small bit of algae growing on it right below/behind his eye. This is visible on both of them, the picture doesn't do a great job of showing it. This definitely wasn't so obvious if even there when I got these.

#3. It seems almost as if there are feint black stripes on one of them. That one also won't spend much time out of its rock.

I can't seem to get a good picture of this one because of the shade given by the rock.

Am I just worrying too much about these, or is there in fact something going on? The one not always under the rock seems to stay hidden for most of the day then he darts out around the tank quickly and returns. I assume this is normal behavior?

Thanks!

all i know is #3 - some yellow labs are genetically inferior and will show grayish vertical lines

i had the same thing

im having the same problem with mine.. i have 2 and have done sum research ,and relised i have male and female... the male is stunning brilliant colouration. the female also loks healthy but is also hiding in the rocks and barly comes out untill i feed them.. the black horizontal line in her dorsel fine is really feint. i dnt reaaly see her in the day or at night time at all...

I haven't been able to sex mine yet, there still very young.

That said, they seem to get along, but in the 8hrs a day I'm at my desk, I only see the one that has a bit of black about 15 minutes out of his/her spot. I can still see him/her 99% of the time, because the spot underneath is to the front of the tank, but it kind of makes me worry/wonder whats going on.

If the lab is going to show gray/black lines, that isn't an issue, neither is it being "genetically inferior", I just want to make sure its healthy.

Hmm, but the fish is still overall healthy (if that is the only issue)?

yea it should be healthy

#1 seems like it might just be naturally like that if its both eyes

and idk about algae under the eyes for #2...
...my africans have a shiny greenish blue spot in that area i think it my just be natural

if you can see the spot im talking about its just above his left fin

Today at feeding time about an hr ago none of my fish wanted to eat. Regardless, that green spot seems similar, but less evident on my yellow labs (probably because there younger).

Did a 10% WC today.

Thanks

is your tank cycled btw? just curious
