so i was impulsive the other day. i stopped into petco to buy a bucket of salt to do w/c's and i see this strange looking triggerfish in there tank where they put all there pred's they order in. it looked like a beast compared to the 2" niger trigger and the 3" volitan lionfish and it had already decided that it was hungry so it took a chunk out of the 2" red file fish. eye balling it i would say its about 4". i asked the guy working there what kind of trigger it was and he said it was a white line and had no info on it, so he called his girlfriend at home who googled it and she found info saying that max size 18" and semi aggressive. i say fine ill take it cause there arent many people in this area set up to accomodate an 18" trigger fish and i would hate to see it go to a bad home. paid $40 bucks for it and brought it home, did a google search myself and its not a white line but a yellow margin max size 24" and a little more than semi aggro. im hoping to get a little input from anyone that has had one and grown it to maturity as to what i should expect. im fairly confident that i would have no problems winging it but others personal experiences would be welcomed knowledge. thanks in advance

They are not really that bad. They can be, but most likely not. Make sure to socialize it while its still young. I had a titian, hes is suppose to be the most aggressive trigger. I socialized him when he was young and had no problems. Mr.green took him out though, fish only become aggressive if you let them in most cases.

Also make sure you have a yellow margin and not a baby titan. They are sometimes mistaken.

And when he gets 24'' ill gladly give him a good home :D

Other than that give him a good home with some buddies. My titan did fine with a couple other aggressive triggers and groupers. Mr.Green always decides who stays and who goes, at my wallets expense.

i feel you there, my whitemouth is an aggro sob. the trigger has already killed my green serpent starfish but that was a duh moment on my part. i never should have had them together. but he has not gotten aggro with any of my moray's or my honeycomb grouper. i will get some pics when i get back gotta go on a road trip today will be back this afternoon. i am 99.9% sure its a yellow margin.

i have been debating on building a coffee table with a glass top out of a 100 gal. rubbermaid container with mild lighting and keeping my striped squirrel fish and lunar wrasse and getting 5-6 damsels (a couple 3 stripe and a couple domino) my girl likes there "mohawk" i may just have to build the 100 first then go on to do something bigger like a kitchen table with my 300 gal stock tank for the trigger alone or possibly keeping my white mouth moray with him in that.

it may well be a titan, wont be certain till it colors up i guess, either way it will be massive and aggressive. it wouldnt hurt my feelings if it was a titan, there coloration is beautiful, hopefully he will like his 300 gallon home down the road, if he should happen to outgrow it i guess it would just mean that i have to build a large salt pond in addition to my fresh pond.
