Thanks guys. It helped that the Nasties bonded so young to wipe out the rest of their siblings and some large peaceful tank mates that keep them focused on defending their territory.
He ate about half the spawn but then left the rest for her to sit on. Unfortunately with her inexperiense she deposited them on the .5" pea gravel, picture below. The forth day the eggs were gone and she guarded off the spot from even the male. The fry wiggled down in the big gravel which was about two inches at that spot. I have since replaced the gravel with a smaller, more breeding friendly substrate. I also added pots, rocks and wood in hopes her next spawning site would make it easier.
